Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area encompasses 37 counties in northeast Iowa. Interstate 80 is near the southern border and Interstate 35 is near the western border. Minnesota and the Mississippi River form the northern and eastern borders.

Did You Know?
Each of the sculptured panels on the exterior of the Memorial Visitor Center was carved from solid 10 ton blocks of limestone that measure 8 feet tall by 13 ½ feet wide.
