Fees & Reservations

General Fees

There are currently no entrance or exit fees for the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. However, there is a charge for camping in the park.

If you are visiting other National Park sites you can purchase the America the Beautiful - the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Annual Pass and Senior Pass at the park's main visitor center.

Permits

If you would like to use the park for a special event, please obtain a permit for use. Permits are currently issued for filming, trail events, festivals & community events, business, and first amendment rights. Liability insurance is required. Call the Office of Special Park Uses for assistance and additional information at 805-370-2308.

    The adult female of this cub died in 2005.  

    Did You Know?
    A study that began in 2002 reveals a lion and his offspring are surviving in the Santa Monica Mountains. Radio collars track them crossing roads and navigating through open spaces. Their future is uncertain, but with conservation efforts, they may continue to make these mountains their home.
