Oyster Bay, NY- Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, the home of Theodore Roosevelt in Oyster Bay, will present special weekend programs throughout June while the Theodore Roosevelt Home prepares for the reopening celebration on Sunday, July 12th. The Sagamore Hill Visitor Center and Theodore Roosevelt Museum at Old Orchard will continue to operate Wednesday through Sunday through June and the first week of July. Park grounds and trails will continue to be open seven days per week from sunrise to sunset.

Birding for Beginners on Sunday, June 14th at 10:00am-11:30am - Not sure how to tell a blue jay from a bluebird? A swift from a swallow? Leave the on-line tweets behind and come listen to the real twitters of birds. Novice birders can join a naturalist on a leisurely hike along the trails of Sagamore Hill in Oyster Bay. Theodore Roosevelt had a lifelong interest in birds, and he kept detailed field notes.We will look for some of the same species of birds that he identified –and maybe a few that he never saw! Meet at the Visitor Center at 10:00 am. Wear appropriate clothes and shoes for a moderate hike along steep woodland paths. Bring binoculars and a field guide, and learn the basics of birding.

Fathers Day Walk on Sunday, June 21st at 1:00pm - On Father's Day 1910, Theodore Roosevelt compiled a list of birds. Participants will look for some of the same bird varieties that TR identified –and maybe a few that he never saw. A children's bird craft activity will be available from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

Authors' Talk on the Untold Story of Eleanor Roosevelt and Alice Roosevelt on Saturday, June 27th at 3:00pm - In Christ Church Parish Hall located in Oyster Bay, NY for a talk on Hissing Cousins: The Untold Story of Eleanor Roosevelt and Alice Roosevelt Longworth presented by authors Marc Peyser and Timothy Dwyer.This free program and book signing is provided by Sagamore Hill NHS, the Friends of Sagamore Hill, and Eastern National.Copies of Hissing Cousins will be available for sale. Guided Nature Walk on Sunday, June 28th at 1:00 p.m. - Join the park's volunteer naturalist on an exploration of Sagamore Hill's fields and woodland trails. In addition, a children's activity will be available from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
