Scavenger Hunt Materials

If your classroom is visiting San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, you can utilize our free self-guided booklet! This is a resource for non-ranger-guided programs (ranger-guided education tours can be booked on our education page), but for teachers & educators to be able to take their students through the park with a colorful, informational, and fun activity. Answers will be found as your group walks through the grounds of these historical structures, reading signage, exploring the rooms, and using critical thinking skills to illustrate the life that existed here more than 300 years ago.

To obtain this booklet, there are two options:
1) Email us to receive a digital copy (and key) that you can print.
2) Email us to request booklets to be printed in-park and ready for your visit. You will pick up the booklets upon your arrival at Mission San José (6701 San Jose Dr). Please allow at least a two weeks' notice if you are requesting the park to print booklets for your students.

Current booklets available are targeted for elementary and middle school students.

Leave No Trace Seven Principles

Whether it’s one person, one family, or a whole classroom or more of visitors, each of us plays a vital role in protecting our national parks. As we spend time outdoors, it’s important to be conscious of the effects our actions may have on plants, animals, other people, and even entire ecosystems.

Following the Leave No Trace Seven Principles can help us minimize harmful impacts. They can be applied anywhere, at any time, while taking part in recreational activities.

Respectful Church Behavior
The churches at each of the four missions are still active places of worship. If entering the church, please adhear to general curteous behavior such as using quiet voices, being respectful of anyone in prayer, and removing hats when inside the church. The churches are owned and operated by the San Antonio Archdiocese.
