Cooperation Association/Bookstore
The Big Bend Natural History Association (BBNHA) operates bookstores at all five visitor centers in Big Bend National Park, as well as at the Amistad National Recreation Area. Proceeds from book sales directly benefit park operates and support interpretive programs and materials.

Founded in 1996, the Friends of Big Bend National Park is a private not-for-profit organization with a mission to support, promote, and raise funds for Big Bend National Park and the Rio Grande Wild & Scenic River in partnership with the National Park Service and other supporters who value the unique qualities of this national resource on the Rio Grande. The Friends of Big Bend National Park has funded a range of critical projects, including wildlife research programs, the purchase of equipment to monitor air and water quality, and the construction and renovation of Park infrastructure. more...

Since 2000, the number of undocumented aliens apprehended attempting to cross through the area of the Rio Grande Wild & Scenic River has risen from 120 to 1200 annually. This traffic results in negative impacts on park resources, including erosion and trash.
