Update: Restoration work begins on Monday, August 6, 2018.

July 26, 2018 Posted by: John Dell'Osso

The lighthouse restoration work will begin on Monday, August 6 and will initially involve removal of a significant amount of asphalt, which will be replaced with concrete pathways that will meet accessibility standards.

There will be no public access beyond the Lighthouse parking lot until this work is completed, on or about October 5.

During the pavement replacement phase of the restoration, a lampist will dismantle and remove the first order Fresnel lens and the clockwork mechanism for restoration. The park will use time-lapse photography to capture this once-in-a-lifetime project and post photos and video on our website and social media platforms.

From Friday, August 10 through Sunday, September 30, park will reopen the Kenneth C. Patrick Visitor Center at Drakes Beach on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Hours of operation will be from 10 am until 5 pm.
