Petersburg National Battlefield is holding a photography contest!

Got an interest in photography? Would you like to see your photo featured on the next Petersburg National Battlefield annual pass? Here is your chance! Enter the Petersburg National Battlefield Photography contest. To enter the contest, submit a photograph with a Civil War theme taken anywhere on Petersburg National Battlefield property.

The contest is open to all persons, and both digital and print photography will be accepted.  The deadline for submitting your photographs is November 21, 2009. The winning photograph will appear on the 2010-2011 Petersburg Annual Park Pass.  The winner will also receive a free annual park pass. 

All submissions must comply with the 2009 Official Rules and all photographs must be accompanied by the 2009 Official Entry Form and submitted on or before the contest end date of November 21, 2009.  If no suitable entry is received, the park reserves the right to select a photo from its files. The Official Rules and Entry Form documents are available at www.nps.gov/pete.  Or contact Betsy Dinger at 804-732-3531, extension 208 to receive an entry form and official rules by mail.

Union Brevet Brigadier General Frederick Winthrop was Massachusetts Bay Colony Governor John Winthrop's sixth great-grandson. Winthrop was mortally wounded at the Battle of Five Forks on April 1, 1865. (Petersburg National Battlefield)
