Mount Dellenbaugh to Kelly Point

Use the BLM Arizona Strip Visitor Map. Kelly Point Road (NPS1203) is closed in winter to motorized vehicles unless permitted. Please see Kelly Point Road Winter Permits for information.

CR103 - Usually appropriate for all high clearance 4x4s from CR5 to the NPS gate just south of the Mount Dellenbaugh trailhead.

NPS1203 Kelly Point Road - From the NPS property gate to the Waring Ranch, the road is usually appropriate for all high clearance 4x4s. However, in the meadow between Mt. Dellenbaugh and the Waring Ranch, the road can have deep mud and ruts after rain. At the Waring Ranch there is the first of many rocky sections. If this is too rough for you, turn around.

Past Waring Ranch the Kelly Point Road NPS1203 deteriorates and is recommended only for UTVs. If you have a short wheelbase 4x4 vehicle like a Jeep Rubicon, Land Rover, or Toyota FJ Cruiser or similar, and you have all terrain tires, you should be able to make the 26 mile drive to Kelly Point, but it will be very rough and slow going (4-5 hours to travel 26 miles). See this page for more information on the Kelly Point road.
