Weekly Programs for School Groups

You can also make a reservation for your group to participate in our weekly programs.

These programs are:

MEET THE DAIRY COW
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 11:30 a.m.
Friday, 10:00 a.m and 11:30 a.m.
Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 a.m.
75 students or less
Meet, Tuesday, the dairy cow, and learn about cows, agriculture, food products, and more.

MEET THE CHICKEN
Saturday - Thursday, 11 a.m.
25 students or less
Learn about this important farm animal, the chicken. Children will have an opportunity to feed the chickens, pet the chicken, and learn about the eggs they lay.

SCENIC WAGON RIDE
Saturday - Thursday, 1:30 p.m.
Friday, 11 a.m.
75 students or less
Take a wagon ride and enjoy some of the natural areas of the park.

Remember that groups of 5 or more must make reservations for these programs by calling Ray Whitacre, 301-839-1176, at least 2 weeks prior to your visit. No reservations are needed on the weekend.

Have you ever wondered why cow's need 4 stomachs to digest that delicious meal of hay? Bring you students to the Meet the Dairy Cow program and they will learn the answer and more. Remember to book your reservations 2 weeks prior to the date of the field trip.

Did You Know?
The largest horse ever recorded was a Belgian stallion named Brooklyn Supreme. He died in 1948. The two Belgian draft horses that live at Oxon Hill Farm are named Becky and Dixie.
