In addition to the vast history found at Ninety Six, there are many opportunities to be in natural surroundings. The park encompasses a 27-acre lake and refuge called the Star Fort Pond. The lake was built in the 1950s by the Greenwood Mill Company. There is an enjoyable nature trail that circles the lake and multiple benches close to the water. There is a fishing pier, a boat launch, and one designated picnic table. Visitors may fish at certain times during the year (Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, April 1 - November 1). Bird watching and wildlife viewing are excellent year round! We hope to see you visit Old Ninety Six in person and not just virtually!
