Summer hours: The summer season starts May 23, 2009 and ends September 15, 2009. The visitor center is open 8 A.M. to 6 P.M. everyday. Both Sunset View and Canyon View campgrounds are open. Sunset View has water. The three short rim trails are open Sandal Trail, Aspen Trail and Canyon View Trail. Longer hikes to Betatakin and Keet Seel are available daily.

Winter hours: The winter season starts September 14, 2008 and ends May 22, 2009. The visitor center is open 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. every day.  Sunset View campground will be open, as will the three self-guided overlook trails Sandal Trail, Aspen Trail and Canyon View Trail . Free guided hikes to Betatakin leave at 10 A.M. on the weekends when weather permits.  Please call for availability (928) 672-2700.To check weather forecast go to NOAA website link availabel to right of this webpage.

Keet Seel Tour 2008 is close for the winter, but will reopen May 23, 2009. We will begin accepting reservations for Keet Seel Tour after New Years 2009.

The people that lived in the area of the Monument made beautiful pottery. They decorated many vessels with black, red, yellow, and even green pigments.
