National Park Service Announces Details of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Project at the Meriwether Lewis Historic Site
The National Park Service (NPS) has announced the details of a $3.2 million project for rehabilitation of the historic Meriwether Lewis site near Hohenwald, Tennessee, under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The funding will be used by the National Park Service to improve the visitor experience at the site while also addressing backlog maintenance and deteriorating infrastructure issues.

Controlled Burning along the Natchez Trace Parkway 2010
The Natchez Trace Parkway has released its prescribed fire (controlled burning) schedule for 2009-2010. From October 2009 through June 2010, prescribed fire operations will be conducted at various locations along the Parkway.

There is currently one detour in place along the Natchez Trace Parkway from milepost 256 to 257. This one-mile paved, parallel, detour will add no additional mileage to your trip. This detour is expected to be in place for two years, with an anticipated completion of December, 2011.
