Support Your Park

There are many ways in which you can support Muir Woods National Monument. You can become a volunteer for Muir Woods National Monument or Redwood Creek Native Plant Nursery; visit our bookstore, gift shop and café; learn more about the Leave No Trace practices for your visit here or at other parks; or simply come and enjoy the magnificent old-growth redwood forest and walk beneath the coast redwood trees.

Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy

The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy is a nonprofit membership organization created to:

  • Preserve the Golden Gate National Parks,
  • Enhance the experiences of park visitors, and
  • Build a community dedicated to conserving the parks for the future.

The Conservancy's work is undertaken with generous contributions from individual, corporate and foundation donors, as well as income earned from operating park bookstores, merchandise and retail, publishing educational materials and providing interpretive tours.

A burl can grow high up on the side of a Redwood tree.

Did You Know?
A burl is a mass of dormant buds grown on the redwood’s trunk. In the event of a fire or flood disturbance a burl will vigorously sprout shoots each with the potential to become a mature tree.
