Dear Sir,

Your Life Oak Tank oak at last has a name. See Tucker in Madroño 19:256-265 1968 where he uses Quercus x munzii Tucker and concludes that it is a hybrid between Q. turbinella calif. (the shrubby oak growing around it) and Q. lobata (valley oak of San Joaquin V. S. to Los Angeles Co.) While the latter parent is so far away, that seemed to me some years ago the only possible other parent.

Yours truly, P. A. Munz”
