Joshua Tree Poppy

Joshua Tree Poppy

The Joshua Tree poppy blooms between February and May. It has lobed leaves that grow out of a basal rosette, and yellow flowers with four petals and 20-26 stamens fused at the base. The long, pointed seed pods split open when ripe to reveal tiny black seeds. The Joshua Tree Poppy is related to the more common California Poppy, (Eschscholzia californica), California’s state flower.
