Child’s cup engraved with "John S. Doud, 1870" and "John Sheldon Doud Eisenhower, 1923." The silversmith's hallmarks are: lion, anchor, Old English C or G, plus “Sterling, 295, 0” on the base.

John Sheldon Doud
This was son John Eisenhower’s christening cup. John was named after his grandfather, (Mamie’s father) whose name is also engraved on the cup. Grandfather Doud, whom the family called Pupah was born in Rome, New York in 1870. He became a millionaire working in the meat packing industry in Iowa. Doud eventually moved the family to Denver and retired at the age of 36. He passed away in 1951 when Ike was serving as Supreme Commander of NATO in France.
