Monocacy National Battlefield
Amphibians
American toad
Many different types of amphibians can be found while visiting the park. While hiking some of the streamside trails, watch and listen for species such as the American toad and the northern spring peeper. The park is also home to a variety of salamanders such as the spotted, marbled, long-tailed, and red-backed salamanders. Since aquatic habitats are found around much of the park, amphibians play an important role in the stability and diversity of the park's ecosystem.
