Other than film and research permits, the Missouri National Recreational River issues no permits.

Hunting and fishing licenses are available from South Dakota (605/773-3393) or online and Nebraska (402/471-5455) or online.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages two campgrounds (Cottonwood and Nebraska Tailwaters, both in Nebraska); call 1-877-444-6777 or go online for reservations. Reservations are taken for the period Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

For camping permits at Lewis and Clark Lake State Recreation Area (NE), Ponca State Park or Niobrara State Park, call 402/471-1414 or go online.
