The Mississippi National River and Recreation Area works closely with the Jefferson National Parks Association (JNPA) to provide educational merchandise at the Mississippi River Visitor Center. 

The purpose of the JNPA is to "provide quality educational products and related services that enrich public understanding and appreciation of America's national parks, public lands and historic places."

Did You Know?
At Lake Itasca, the river is so shallow, children can walk across the Mississippi. Between Governor Nicholls Wharf and Algiers Point in New Orleans, the Mississippi is more than 200 feet deep.
