Introduction

The Mississippi National River and Recreation Area offers a multitude of activities to keep you busy during the summer season. Listed below are a few of our featured summer activities. Make sure to check our Calendar for upcoming park and partner programs. If you have specific activity questions, contact the Mississippi River Visitor Center at (651) 293-0200. We also offer programs to organized groups such as community centers and summer school groups.

Suggestions

Explore the Lock and Dam at St. Anthony

Take a guided tour of the St. Anthony Lock and Dam at 11:00 a.m. or 3:00 p.m. Can't make it for these drop-in tours? The lock wall is open from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. daily. Learn more about the oppotunities and tours at the St Anthony Visitor Center.

Paddle Share - Kayak Rentals on the Mississippi

Don't have a boat, but have some experience in paddling? Want to get on the water and experience the river from that perspective? The Mississippi River is a great paddling experience and we can help you get on the river with the Paddle Share program.

Take a Hike

There are lots of places to go hiking. Check out our Walks and Hiking page and find a strenuous hike or an easy walk.

Take a Bike Ride

The Mississippi National River and Recreation Area contains miles of bicycle paths. Check out our Bicycling page for ideas of where to go. Don't have a bike? Check out the Nice Ride rental program.

Fish with a Ranger

Want to learn more about fishing or renew fishing skills? Want to teach your kids how to fish? Then join us on one of our public fishing events.

Bike with a Ranger

Join ranger-led bike rides along the Mississippi River this summer. Rides include stops along the way to learn about the history, culture and natural features of the river.
