Getting involved with the National Park Service can be as simple as picking up a single piece of trash during your visit to a park, or as involved as pursuing a career with the federal government. Friends groups, associations, volunteers and everyday park visitors all have the potential to contribute in some way to the protection of our national treasures.
Did You Know?
Iron mile markes were cast for the National Road between Cumberland and Wheeling in 1833. There was one mile post every mile. Some of the old iron mile posts remain. In 1998 fiberglass replacements were made for the missing markers.
