Ranger Roadshow Episode 5: Seminole Indian Scouts Cemetery
Description
On this episode of the Ranger Roadshow, Black Seminole descendants join us at the Seminole Indian Scouts Cemetery to share their ancestors’ story: from the ethnogenesis of the Black Seminole people to the importance of the cemetery today as a pilgrimage site for descendants.
Persecuted by the U.S. Army and slave hunters, the Black Seminoles, including freedom seekers to whom the community gave refuge, traveled on the Trail of Tears from Florida to Oklahoma and then found freedom in Coahuila, Mexico.
