(CTI) has launched the “Developing Young Leaders” program.  This program represents a year-round youth program under the aegis of the longstanding Spindle City Corps program. Spindle City Corps Hosting Youth Summit 2008 In Lowell On Saturday, August 16, 2008 the Lowell Spindle City Corps will host a gathering and celebration of approximately 175 members, team leaders, and families of youth environmental programs from throughout New England.  The Lowell Spindle City Corps is a partnership among Lowell National Historical Park and Community Teamwork, Inc.  The team members are participants in summer programs with a hands-on focus toward completing environmental projects in urban settings as well as incorporating environmental education and leadership development into the curriculum.

Holiday Hours during the Holidays 2007
In observance of the upcoming holidays, Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center will close early on Monday, December 24th at 2:00 pm and will remain closed all day on December 25, 2007.  Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center will be open from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Monday, December 24, and will reopen at 9 am to 4:30 pm on Wednesday, December 26.   The park will also be closed on January 1, 2008, New Year’s Day.

On the Road: Jack Kerouac’s Original Scroll Manuscript and Exhibit opened Friday, June 15, 2007 at the Boott Cotton Mills Museum at Lowell National Historical Park.   This opening marks a summer full of celebrations to recognize the 50th anniversary of the publication of On the Road considered a modern classic among American novels.

2007 Jack Kerouace Scroll Exhibit
The Jack Kerouac On the Road, Original Scroll Manuscript and Exhibit will be at Lowell National Historical Park’s Boott Cotton Mills Museum Gallery, from June 15 through September 14, 2007.  The exhibit will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the publication of On the Road, recognized as a modern classic among American novels. This will be the only New England exhibit of this significant American literary artifact.

Tsongas Industrial History Center
Week–long summer day camp sessions are being offered by the Tsongas Industrial History Center, a hands-on education partnership between the University of Massachusetts Lowell and the Lowell National Historical Park located at the Boott Cotton Mill Museum in Lowell, Massachusetts.  Each camp runs Monday through Friday, 8:30 am-3:00 pm.  Summer camp programs are designed and staffed by professional educators from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and Lowell National Historical Park with a ratio of one staff member for each 8-10 children.

On May 17 through May 19, Lowell is throwing open its doors again during National Preservation Month.  Doors Open Lowell provides an inside look at over thirty of Lowell’s historic buildings, many not normally open to the public.  The buildings, located citywide, will be open Friday evening and during the day Saturday.
