The Klipsch Heritage Museum Association, Inc. (KHMA), is located in an historic building in Hope, Arkansas. The KHMA possesses the library of Paul W. Klipsch primarily containing technical journals in the fields of electronics and acoustics. It numbers over 6000 issues dating from the 1920s through the 1990s. Many of the earlier ones are becoming quite fragile. Out of necessity, this library is currently contained in 13 pallets housed in a factory warehouse. Not only does this not provide ideal environmental control, but it also makes access extremely difficult.
The basement has experienced flooding in the past. Recently several minor leakage points have been successfully remediated, which has led to the discovery of the primary water entry point. It is below the basement slab where it joins an elevator pit that extends about 4 feet further down. The assessment will determine if the problem is improper sloping of the driveway, directing water toward the structure.
