Traveling Trunks

Lincoln Traveling Trunk

The trunk was developed in cooperation with Abraham Lincoln Birthplace NHS and Lincoln Home NHS.  It is available for loan to schools to provide an opportunity for students to explore the life of Abraham Lincoln from his birth in a log cabin, to his pioneer years as a boy, to his election as our 16th president. The trunks contain period clothing, curriculum guides, videos, and numerous other items respresenting Lincoln's Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois years.

Did You Know?
The memorial landscape design was conceived of by noted landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. He envisioned a memorial of strength and simplicity, sentiment and reason. He wanted the memorial to remain simple, so as not to overwhelm the "familiar associations" of the area with the Lincolns.
