This guide can be used to prepare your class for a site visit or as a supplement to your classroom teaching. It contains information about visiting the park, historical information for use in preparing lessons, and a variety of activities that can be utilized to help reinforce the lessons.

Did You Know?
Much of the early development of the park was done in the 1930s by members of the Civilian Conservation Corps.One of its most notable accomplishments was the excavation of the Lincoln cabin hearthstones.Pictures of the stones and articles on the discovery appeared in numerous newspapers in 1934.
