The National Park Service announces the temporary closure of the Overton Beach Launch Ramp during the month of December 2007. The temporary closure is necessary to complete the rehabilitation work on the ramp. It is important that the work begin now before the water comes up in January (based on Bureau of Reclamation projections).

The $736,744 project includes pulverizing the existing deteriorated asphalt launch ramp and replacing it with ā€œVā€-grooved reinforced concrete. When the work is completed, the ramp will remain suitable for shallow launching. The project, funded through the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act, was awarded to EHC, LLC based in Deaver, Wyoming.

The National Park Service regrets any inconvenience this may cause visitors wanting to use the ramp in December. The nearest ramp available for use is about 20 miles south on Northshore Road to Echo Bay.
