Kobuk Valley National Park is dominated by boreal forest vegetation. The stabilized dunes ridge systems and small drainages tracking up the narrow valleys provide the ideal conditions for cottonwood stands and spruce forests. Kobuk Valley where the boreal forest meets its northern limit and the vegetation transforms to open tundra. The northern most parts of the park and upland areas are ruled by Dryas tundra or scree with scattered forbs. |
