Historic District Walking Tours

45 minute Ranger-led walking tours of the Skagway Historic District

WHEN: Early May - Late September
TIMES: Daily 9 AM, 10 AM, 11 AM, 2 PM and 3 PM
WHERE:  Free tickets available at the Visitor Center, 2nd Avenue and Broadway.  Walks are limited to 30 participants.  Tours are given on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Dyea Town Site Walking Tour

WHEN: Early June - Mid August
TIMES: Monday - Thursday @ 2 PM & Friday, Saturday, Sunday @ 10 AM & 2 PM.
WHERE: Meet the Ranger at the Dyea Town Site Parking Area.  (See Dyea Map on map page of this website)
WHAT TO BRING: Appropriate footwear for the weather, insect repellent, rain gear, fluids to drink, an imaginative mind.
TRANSPORTATION: Provide your own - the Dyea road is unpaved and is not recommended for vehicles longer than 30 feet.  Ask at the Visitor Center in Skagway about commercial transportation options.

Did You Know?
No gold was ever found in the Skagway River valley. The actual gold fields were approximately 550 miles north, near the junction of the Klondike and Yukon Rivers in Dawson City. Skagway became known as the gateway to the Klondike gold fields, a bustling supply town.
