Being prepared for your visit to the fossil beds is the best way to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.

Please keep in mind that there is no cell phone service in or around the monument and the nearest pay phones are located in the surrounding communities.

Did You Know?
Some of the earliest rhino fossils in the world were found in the John Day beds. We call these the "running rhinos".
