Hot Springs National Park maintenance crews will begin work this week to add utility hookups to the upper loop of Gulpha Gorge Campground. These improvements are part of the National Park Service’s Centennial Challenge. Hot Springs National Park was selected from 201 proposals for matching funds.
The Friends of the Fordyce and Hot Springs National Park, Inc., matched the $15,000 that the Centennial Challenge funding provided Hot Springs National Park. “We are excited to be selected as one of the first centennial projects in the nation,” said Josie Fernandez, Park Superintendent.
The upper loop campsites that will be closed include those sites closest to Highway 7 Spur. The campsites next to Gulpha Creek will remain open. This utility work is expected to continue through the summer.
