Homestead National Monument of America
Venture Crew 82- Sponsored by Friends of Homestead

The Friends of Homestead National Monument of America are sponsoring a new program for co-ed young adults 16-20 years old called Venture Crew #82.

Participants will include Homestead National Monument of America, Friends of Homestead National Monument of America, Cornhusker Council Boy Scouts of America, local area adult advisors, and young adults 16-20 years of age.

This is a program designed to take advantage of the positive aspects of the partnering organizations, working together to support area coed young adults. This program brings together the existing Boy Scouts of America program called Venturing, the many National Partners in Stweardship of our special public lands under the supervision of the National Park Service and the private Friends Groups supporting the National Parks.

This program takes into consideration the strengths of all of these organizations when combined with a single purpose. This single purpose provides the opportunity of expanded knowledge and enjoyment of our public lands and cultural areas of the nation.

The Cornhusker Council Boy Scouts of America provides Venture Crew #82 with organizational leadership support. The Homestead National Monument provides new opportunities for area young adults. Friends of Homestead National Monument of America provides the necessary Venture Crew #82 sponsorship for this area.

The necessary ingredients are sponsorship, training, cooperation, and the dedication of the individual members involved. Each partner will benefit from their participation in this effort.

For more information about Venturing, click here to visit the Boy Scouts of America website.

If you are interested in getting involved or want to learn more about this program, come to our open house meeting on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 7 p.m at the monument's Education Center. You can also call Homestead National Monument of America at 402-223-3514 for more information.
