Public Transportation
 

The County of Hawai`i offers bus service on Hawai`i Island via the Hele On Bus system.  Bus service is very limited and operates only on weekdays (no holidays or weekends). Check the schedule for Kau/Volcano/Hilo. There is no public transportation within the park.

Did You Know?
`Ohelo (Vaccinium reticulatum) is a relative of blueberries and a favorite food of nene, the Hawaiian Goose. Its berries range from dark red to pale yellow when ripe and are sacred to Pele, the Volcano Goddess.
