Current Kilauea Volcano Activity
A swarm of earthquakes and tremor alerted scientists and park staff to an intrusion of magma into the east rift zone of Kilauea. Beginning in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 17, 2007, the "Father's Day" intrusion and subsequent brief eruption of lava on June 18-19th was the prelude to new things happening on Kilauea.  

On July 21, 2007, a new outbreak of lava occured to the east of Pu`u `O`o vent. It was the first time lava erupted in this area since February 7, 1992.
