Several National Park Service sites have established "sister park" relationships with national parks in other countries. These partnerships increase information sharing to address many common issues, and promote international cooperation and collaboration to improve the protection, preservation and management of the sites. There are mutual benefits for both parties that share the common ideals of stewardship and preservation of the resources in their care.

`A`ali`i (Dodonaea viscose) is an important shrub with many traditional Hawaiian uses. Its hard and durable wood makes a fine spear. Seed pods are fashioned into beautiful lei, while its red capsules can be boiled to make dye.
