Overview

Want to bring Haleakalā National Park to your classroom? Find out how to plan and prepare for a distance learning program below.

  • Haleakalā National Park offers ranger-led distance learning programs and self-paced programs for grades K - 8
  • All distance learning programs are curriculum-based and free of charge
  • Registration for programs are required
  • Distance learning programs can be tailored to fit your needs
  • Distance learning programs are outlined below and are designed to help teachers meet Hawai'i Content and Performance Standards III and Next Generation Science Standards

Scheduling a Program

Follow these steps to successfully schedule a distance learning program:

  • Make a Reservation (required): Program reservations are required at least one month in advance, and group size is limited to a maximum of 50 students per day. Program availability is first-come, first-served. To register, submit a completed Education Request Form to nps_hale_eec@nps.gov.

Preparing for Your Program

Distance learning programs require a strong internet connection, computer with an online platform, a webcam, and speakers. The programs have optional pre-visit and post-visit lesson plans that support the park's management goals and meet curriculum standards.

Evaluation and Feedback

After your virtual visit to Haleakalā National Park, please fill out our evaluation form and return it via email to nps_hale_eec@nps.gov. Your feedback is very important to us and will help us improve education experiences for future teachers and students.
