The operation of personal watercraft (PWC) is allowed at Gulf Islands National Seashore with restrictions. 

PWC Regulations in Florida

PWCs are not allowed in Florida in the lagoons of Perdido Key within Big Lagoon; the areas within 200 feet from the remnants of the old fishing pier and within 200 feet from the new fishing pier at Fort Pickens; and within 200 feet of non-motorized vessels and people in the water, except individuals associated with the use of the PWC. Operators cannot beach their PWCs in these areas.

PWC Regulations in Mississippi

Horn Island and Petit Bois Island

  • PWCs must operate at a flat wake speed within a ½ mile of the shoreline
  • PWCs are not allowed in any inland lake, pond, lagoon or inlet

West Ship Island

  • PWCs must operate at a flat wake speed within ½ mile of the Ship Island Pier
  • PWCs are not allowed within the south beach swim area
  • With the above exceptions, all PWCs must operate at a flat wake speed within 300 yards of the shoreline
  • PWCs are not allowed in any inland lake, pond, lagoon or inlet

East Ship Island and Spoil Island

  • PWCs must operate at a flat wake speed within 300 yards of the shoreline
  • PWCs are not allowed in any inland lake, pond, lagoon or inlet

Cat Island

  • PWCs are not allowed in any inland lake, pond, lagoon or inlet on park property

Davis Bayou

  • PWCs must operate at a flat wake speed within 300 yards of the shoreline
