Some Mornings are Better than Others!
July 25, 2009

I stopped by the office this evening to water the orchids (see June blog) and checked my email. There were a couple of images from the cams that were sent in and one in particular is a knock-out. It's from earlier in the month...July 8 to be exact, but it's amazing. I thought I'd share it with you here, as I won't be able to add it to the gallery for a couple of weeks. link to Lake McDonald image from July 8

Last week there were a number of emails about the Osprey. It seems that one day it looked like one of the chicks had fallen out of the nest. I checked several times and finally did see all three just the other day. One of them is much much smaller than the other two however. It will be interesting to see if that one makes it. Keep checking and send me any good screen captures you run across.

Thanks,
Bill

Osprey at nest with three chicks

It's Triplets!
July 9, 2009

I just caught my first sighting of the third chick in the nest. Up to this point I had thought there were only two.

Chicks!
July 5, 2009

We have chicks! There have been confirmed sightings of at least two chicks in the nest, although this afternoon I was only able to get this barely discernable image. Keep watching and you will probably see the little guys peeking out from time to time.

In other webcam info...I fixed the pop-up windows a couple of days ago so that they were all consistent, and in doing so operator error entered into the picture and they no longer refreshed. I've fixed that now and they should be working correctly again.

It seems that the topic of Many Glacier was a hot one and I received a lot of email on that. Apparently many people didn't understand that what I was asking was if we could not restore the old one, would an inferior view be acceptable. Most of the emails simply asked for the old one back. I don't think that is possible. I spent a day over there last week and searched around for possible replacement views. They are few and far between and probably won't be acceptable for most people. We will keep working on it and see what happens.

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July.
