Glacier National Park
The Wilderness & Land Ethic Curriculum

One of the significant things about Glacier National Park is its wilderness character. Although the park is not a federally designated "Wilderness," it is managed as wilderness.

An excellent guide to helping students understand more about wilderness is The Wilderness & Land Ethic Curriculum produced by the Arthur Carhart National Wilderness Training Center.

There is also a wilderness trunk available for loan in the Flathead region.

Grizzly bears

Did You Know?
Grizzly bears in the park have a wide variety of food sources, including glacier lily bulbs, insects, and berries. They may also make an early season meal of mountain goats that were swept down in avalanches over the winter.
