MONUMENT CLOSED DUE TO SNOW AND ICE

The road into Devils Postpile and the Reds Meadow Valley has closed for the season. When the 2010 opening date is available, this will be updated. Please call 760-924-5500 for the most up to date information.

 

OPENING FOR THE 2010 SEASON

An opening date for the 2010 season has not yet been announced. Typically the monument opens some time within the first week of June, but this is highly weather dependent. During years of heavy snowfall, monument opening has been pushed back to the end of June. If planning a trip to the monument early season, please call ahead. This will be updated when more information is available.

 

RED'S MEADOW SHUTTLE BUS

The Red's Meadow Shuttle Bus has stopped running for the 2009 season. For more information about the shuttle bus and transportation fees, click here.

RANGER STATION HOURS

The Monument's Ranger Station is open daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm during the summer season. The Ranger Station is closed for the season.

Did You Know?
In the fall of 2005, a new meteorological (met) station was installed in Soda Springs Meadow at Devils Postpile. It joins a network of other weather stations throughout the Sierra Nevada that provide important data to climate research and the management of California's hyrdologic resources.
