"A Community's Heritage"
May 24-September 1, 2008, 10:30am daily
Join a ranger for a walking tour of the historic Wright-Dunbar Village, the neighborhood of the Wright brothers and Paul Laurence Dunbar. Visitors are advised to carry water on hot days.

Goop Tales
June 21 & August 9, 2:00-3:00pm
Goop Tales, by Gelett Burgess, first entered the world of children's books in 1900, and it was one of the books the Wright brothers read to their nieces, nephews,and neighborhood children. By listening and "acting out" Goop Tales, children learn accepted behavior whether in a museum, classroom or at home.

"Let's Go Fly Kite! Famous Kite Flyers through History"
July 28, 2:00-3:00pm
Find out how scientists and experimenters have used kites throughout history to advance the science of machine-powered flight. Children of all ages can learn how the Wright brothers first learned to fly using one of the oldest man-made flying devices - kites.

"It's in the Details: Wil and Orv as Printers"
July 26, 2:00-4:00pm
Wil and Orv were first printers and it took a keen eye and attention to details to get this job done right. Watch a ranger demonstrate the tedious process of printing in 1890 in the same room the Wright brothers used.

"Propelled into History"
August 23, 2:00-3:00pm

Have you ever wondered how a helicopter toy inspired the Wright brothers to develop airplane propellers? Children of all ages can discover how Wilbur and Orville developed their successful theory for airplane propeller construction and design. All participants will assemble their own propeller toy and test its design.

Bike-with-a-Ranger Tours
June 15, July 20, & August 17, 9:00am-1:00pm

Explore Dayton's exceptional history by bicycle. This moderately difficult ride will stop at Hawthorn Hill, the Patterson Homestead and Moraine Farm. Riders are required to have safe and functional bicycles and personal gear, including helmets.

Wright Memorial Talks

Discover the past and present, as rangers discuss the memorial, the development of the air force base and various topics.

Walking Tours

During the ranger-guided walking tours, visitors will learn about the site where the Wright brothers developed the world's first practical airplane and flying school. Visitors are advised to carry water on hot days.
