Volunteers donate literally thousands of hours of time, expertise and good old fashioned hard work. Thier efforts contribute greatly to the NPS mission of preservation, protection and stewardship of our Nation's special places.

Cumberland Island volunteers assist in the upkeep of painting various trail signs.

Volunteers assist in horse count inventories, provide support for education and interpretation programs, create exhibits, assist in museum and archival work, work on historic structures, perform trail restoration and maintenance, conduct visitor use surveys, staff the Cumberland Island Museum and numerous other tasks.

Due to the overwhelming interest in volunteer opportunities, the vip coordinator may not be able to contact all applicants. Lodging on the island is limited depending on availablity and work project.
