Park Purpose Statement                                            

Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site exists to preserve, protect, and interpret for the benefit, education, and inspiration of present and future generations, Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, and to interpret its role in the integration of public schools and the development of the Civil Rights movement in the United States.

In 1957 President Eisenhower sent soldiers into Arkansas to enforce the federal court's order to desegregate Central High - becoming the first president since Reconstruction to use federal troops to support African American civil rights. Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site
