**** COMMERCIAL PERMIT POLICY ****
Notice To Commercial Permit Applicants: In early August 2009, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge (Refuge) and Canaveral National Seashore (Seashore) initiated a comprehensive update of the Commercial Use Authorization policy. Currently, this policy remains under review. Once the review process is completed, the Refuge and Seashore will notify all permit holders of any revisions to the August 2009 policy, and will post any revisions on the Refuge and Seashore websites.
Monthly Catch Logs Are Mandatory..Even If You Were Not Engaged In Commercial Fishing Activity During The Reporting Month! (This requirement applies to BOTH Commercial Harvesters & Guides). Catch logs are required because harvest data is needed to manage sustainable aquatic populations. On your logs, please record hours fished in each area even if no fish were caught. We ask that you record number of people fishing/harvesting, including guides or assistants who are actively fishing. Our Resource Management team greatly appreciates your cooperation.
Letter to Fishing Guides & Commercial Harvestors from CANA Resource Manager, dated March 11, 2009 (read here)
You may also submit your completed monthly catch log to Resource Management as an attachment, using this email address: cana_catchlog@nps.gov
Commercial Use Authorizations (Business Permits) Permit Instructions & Application Current Permit Holders Annual Financial Reports: If you did not submit your mandatory annual financial report by Jan 31, 2009, you have violated the terms of your permit, and will not be able to renew your guide permit until you have submitted a current financial report.
A complete new application is required when you renew your permit. If you plan to submit your application by mail, please
check expiration dates on all of your licenses & registration documents to ensure they are the current versions, as receipt of expired documents frequently delays processing.
Checks or money orders made payable to the
"National Park Service" are acceptable forms of payment for your permit. Your social security number is required when paying by check or money order. You may also pay with cash at our headquarters office, although the exact amount will be required, as we do not have change-making capability.
