The mission of the Bryce Canyon Archives mirrors that of the National Park Service—to protect and preserve the park’s resources for the enjoyment and education of current and future generations.

The Bryce Canyon Archives document the history of the park, from the beginning of the parks founding in 1928 to the present day. Park records document how the national park idea developed after Bryce Canyon’s establishment, how policies for managing the park were developed, and how they continue to develop today. Archival materials in the collections span cultural and natural histories and include maps, photographs, manuscripts, films, oral histories, and paper records.

Finding Aids

The National Park Service is reorganizing the Zion Archives. We will share new finding aids when the reorganization is done.

Please email us with any collections related questions.

Access and Use

The Bryce Canyon archives are located at Zion National Park and are open by prior appointment. We will ask researchers to read and sign forms that explain how to protect park records. Please contact archives staff to have the forms emailed to you before your visit. You may also receive paper copies to read and review when you get to the park if you are unable to fill out the forms in advance. You may review archives forms and policies on the Zion Archives page.
