Volunteer Dick Miller anf Park Service Employee Ed Coughlin

Volunteers at Boston National Historical Park play an important role. Some perform ship maintenance aboard the World War II destroyer, USS Cassin Young. Others assist the park by providing visitor services to help orient the thousands of people who visit our sites each year. Still others offer their expertise in particular specialties, often with decades of experience behind them. All told, our volunteers give more than 16 thousand hours each year to our park, thus truly embodying the National Park Service spirit of stewardship. We encourage you to join our volunteer group by calling Bill Foley at 617-242-5629, or by sending an email.

Though no specific volunteer positions are listed, we are always looking for help. See what the volunteers are doing on USS Cassin Young.

Below are volunteer opportunities available at the National Park Service Northeast Museum Services Center Archeology Lab, based at the Charlestown Navy Yard, Boston NHP

Old North Church Steeple

Did You Know?
Did you know that Old North Church's steeple has been replaced twice since the display of the signal lanterns on April 18, 1775? In neither case was the downfall caused by revolution, but by a mighty wind, a nameless storm of October, 1804, and Hurricane Carol, August, 1954.
