Guided Battlefield Tours

Step back in time with a guided tour of Big Hole National Battlefield, led by our dedicated rangers. These interpretive hikes, ranging from 1.2 to 2 miles round-trip, take you across the very ground where the nímí·pu· (Nez Perce) camped and fought during the tragic events of August 1877. Along the way, rangers share stories of bravery, resilience, and cultural significance, painting a vivid picture of the lives affected and the legacy that endures.

As you explore, you’ll gain insight into the complex relationships, struggles, and moments that shaped the Nez Perce people and the land itself. The tours provide a chance to see the battlefield through a new lens, fostering a deeper connection to this sacred site.

Be Prepared: Since mosquitoes are prevalent, especially in warmer months, we strongly recommend bringing insect repellent. Wear comfortable footwear, dress in layers for changing weather, and come prepared to immerse yourself in the powerful stories of Big Hole National Battlefield.
