Closures
Area Closed Info

Closures:
Loop Road south of the Gator Hook Strand site and west of the Loop Road Education Center will be closed to vehicle traffic. For more details go here.

A portion of the Cypress Camp Trail in the Bear Island Unit is closed until further notice. For more details click here.

The Addition Lands within the Preserve remain closed to recreational ORV use and hunting until further notice. To learn more about the Addition Lands General Management Planning Process click here.

Fire Activities
Big Cypress National Preserve has one of the largest fire programs within the National Park Service. The peak of the fire activity within the Preserve typically occurs from November through May. Prescribed and wild fires may often close facilities within the Preserve. To discover if there are any recent closures due to fire click here.

Did You Know?
Big Cypress National Preserve was one of the first national preserves within the National Park Service. As a preserve, Big Cypress manages for a broader range of recreational activities, including hunting and Off-road Vehicle access.
