Photo Credit: mrpolyonymous The arctic fox (Inupiaq: pizukaġruk) travels great distances across its range throughout the year. During the winter, it crosses the sea ice to feed on the remains of seals killed by polar bears. A specialized blood circulation in the fox's paws and a thick fur coat protect it from the cold as it travels. The fox will sometimes completely cross the Bering Strait during these journeys! |
