Visiting During Visitor Center Rehab
map of visitor center area during construction

Map showing location of temporary visitor center and access to trail during visitor center rehab.

-To get the best information and have the most enjoyable visit all visitors should plan to begin their visit at the temporary visitor center located across Frijoles Creek from the historic visitor center (see map).

-All trails will remain open during the same hours as usual during construction.

-Access to the Main Loop Trail/Alcove House Trail will be rerouted around the construction zone (see map).

-Accessibility to trails for those with mobility constraints will be affected. For information on how this may affect you call 505-672-3861 x 517.  One of the main goals of this rehab project is to make the visitor center more accessible. Click here for an accessibility map. (PDF)

-Due to space constraints there will be no slide show or exhibits in the temporary visitor center.

-The Western National Parks Association bookstore will be in the temporary visitor center.

-Bandelier Trading Gift Shop and Snack Bar will stay in the same location as always.

-The parking area will be reduced so there may be a wait for parking during busy times such as Balloon Fiesta.

-Bus dropoff will be at the south end of the main parking lot (see map).
